FAQ

How long can I expect to come to psychotherapy?

Some people come with definitive, short-term goal(s) in mind and can complete their treatment in a few sessions. Whereas others come with more challenging, long-term goals and need several sessions to complete their treatment. As new goal(s) come about, so does the extension of treatment. There isn't necessarily a correct answer, but we will work together to find the best path for you.

Why can't you bill my insurance?

At this time, I’ve chosen not to accept insurance for many reasons. One reason is to protect my clients’ privacy regarding their respective health records. As the payor, insurance companies have a right to see client records as part of their claim process. In addition, given the uncertainty of full coverage provided by insurance companies, I’ve made the decision to charge out of pocket to avoid any undue surprises, e.g., surprise bills, etc. that may come your way. Private pay allows me to offer more individualized care to each of my clients. (Please see ‘Rates’ for more benefits of paying for therapy out of pocket.)

What is psychotherapy like?

Psychotherapy is complex by design yet simple. The administrative process is the same for everyone: having forms to complete & sign, scheduling appointments, making payment agreements, etc. The therapeutic process is quite different for everyone. Your journey will be your own.
